This is a very tasty bread, although, just like banana bread... this isn't really a bread. It's delicious though, so shut up.

Ingredients

Dry

  • 1 2/3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom

Wet

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped unpeeled pears (1 or 2)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs

Preparation

  1. Mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients together in another bowl.
  3. Pour the wet mix into the dry mix, and stir it up just enough to get everything moistened. Don't overmix, or you'll make a sticky, gluten-y mess.
  4. Pour the mix into a greased loaf pan.
  5. Take an extra tbsp or two of sugar and sprinkle over the top. Do the same with 1/2 tsp of cardamom.
  6. Bake in a 350F oven for 55-65 minutes.
  7. Cool for at least an hour.
